Sorry, guys. I needed a little blogging break. I love documenting the quickly passing time, but as of late, the regular blog obligation had become less fun and more duty.
I was toying with the idea of creating a private instagram account where I could turn those instagram photos into a book, but I don't think I am ready to stop jotting down our life stories and solely rely on pictures and short captions. I looked at a few photo album options, but I think the workflow of a blog is easiest and quickest for me at the moment.
When the kids get a little older, there will be a natural time of transition where I need to stop writing down their stories on the internet and let them hold onto their own memories. But for now, I am going to continue telling the tales. For the past six years, I've been taking this blog and turning it into a printed hardback book at the end of the year. When I recently put together 2016's book, I realized that I am not quite ready to let go of this regular writing habit.
So, the Jordans are back. You didn't miss much, really.
1. Our household has been down for the count several different weeks with sicknesses. I think we all had a version of the flu a few weeks ago (Palmer's was very mild and Rick's was full-on "I might die" man flu).
Grace was pretty sick, but oh my was she extra cuddly- something that does not happen on a normal basis.
Me: "Oh no. Why?"
Palmer: "Well, if you eat a lot of candy, you get sick. And I had a lot of candy today!"

And then two weeks later, Grace came down with a nasty version of hand, foot, and mouth. I have watched WAY too much CNN between Grace's sicknesses stopping down our lives and the ever-eventful new presidential transition...
2. Palmer and I are playing tennis. Palmer started playing tennis with some other kids at the club during the weekly "junior drills". I quickly learned that "ladies drills" happens at the same time (genius). Combine that with a weekly dining special of "kids-eat free buffet night" and we've got ourselves a new Wednesday night game plan!
Palmer is really enjoying tennis and as of now, Rick and I are thinking that Palmer might be more of an "individual" kid as opposed to a team sports player. He currently likes tennis, golf, rock climbing, biking, skiing, and swim team.
I am taking a weekly beginners tennis series with some other ladies. We are all pretty much on the same level and having a lot of fun learning the game. Grace just shows up for the tennis clothes...I get that.
3. We had a lot of sugar on Valentine's Day.
Palmer on Valentine's Day: "Mom, can you take my temperature?"Me: "Oh no. Why?"
Palmer: "Well, if you eat a lot of candy, you get sick. And I had a lot of candy today!"
4. Some kids need to stop growing. I was recently reminded of when Palmer (in a dinosaur costume) locked himself and me out of the house with baby Grace inside. We had to call the fire department and they broke a window to get in. Today, the dinosaur costume is nearly too small and this boy is way too tall...
5. The girl is a tad into princess things (eye roll).
And she never stops singing...
Until later...
