Eight Months

The monthly photo shoots are getting more and more challenging each time.  I had great difficulty getting Palmer to sit for the photo.
EIGHT MONTH STATS:
Height: 28"
Weight: 22.5 pounds

Likes:
*Rings (Palmer has one in his hand almost all the time.)
*Dropping the ring (and other objects) on purpose so that you will pick it up.
*Doing a "high five" on command.
*Electrical Cords (We are trying to break this addiction.)

*Mommy and Daddy (Palmer is starting to get a little separation anxiety.)
*Remote controls

*Learning table
*Stairs
*Fans (Fans have been a long-time favorite and yet to get old.)

Also, notice the way Palmer's hair is curling these days.  I think somebody is going to have his daddy's hair.
Happy eight months, Palmer!

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!
We stayed at Rick's mom's for Thanksgiving.  It was fun to see Palmer and his cousin Elle start to interact.
"I hope she doesn't take my food, Mom."
Palmer got a lot of love from everyone:
He had a blast playing with the toys at Nana's house...
...but especially got a kick out of the Thursday newspaper with all of the extra sale ads.

On Friday, Palmer and I headed down to Austin to spend the weekend with Luke and some of my family.  (Rick had to stay behind and work.)

Road trip:
More family love:
We had fun, even though Palmer and Gus stood by the door most of the weekend trying to figure out how to break loose.
We have a lot to be thankful for this year.

Sweet Treats

WHAT'S FOR DINNER DESSERT (Fall Holiday Edition):

I admit it, we've eaten a lot of sweet treats lately.  I've had a lot of fall occasions that called for sugar goodies.  Enjoy.

IMPOSSIBLE PIE:  This pie is "impossibly" easy.  It's essentially a coconut pie called Impossible because a pie crust miraculously forms when baking.  Super simple and a crowd favorite: Food And Wine's Impossible Pie

SALTED CARAMEL POPCORN AND PRETZEL BARS: As I post this, I shudder.  Not because it's bad, but because it's too good.  I may have eaten too much, all three times that I made it within seven days.  I think it's safe to say I won't be making it again any time soon.  But, you should.  Salted Caramel Popcorn and Pretzel Bars

PUMPKIN FLUFF DIP:  Okay, this one surprised me.  It's a pumpkin dip with very few ingredients and yet I had several girlfriends talking about it for days.  It literally took me less than 5 minutes to whip up.  Enjoy.  Pumpkin Fluff Dip

PEANUT BUTTER SNICKERS BROWNIES:  What to do with all of your leftover Halloween candy?  Make brownies.  These are messy, but taste good.  Peanut Butter Snickers Brownies

Early Mornings

It's been early at the Jordan household for several months.  Palmer has consistently been ready to start the day around 5am.  No matter how long we let Palmer stay in his crib before going to his room, he still wakes at 5am.

Rough.  (Especially for a mom that tries to squeeze in a morning workout before work.)

We tried everything the books said: "Put the baby to sleep one half hour earlier, put the baby to sleep with a full belly, don't go in the nursery until the time that you want the baby to wake and he'll figure it out, etc. etc."

What the books didn't suggest is to put the baby to bed LATER.  We moved Palmer's bedtime one hour later last week (which was really TWO hours later with the time change).

AND we have good news: slowly Palmer is waking up later and later each day.  This morning, he work at 7:15 am!!  Hallelujah.
Maybe we're on to something.  (I hope I didn't just jinx everything.)

Watch our happy baby.  There's nothing better than a baby laughing.
PS The smocked outfits in the picture and video above are outfits my mom smocked for my brother, who is now 25 years old.  What fun treasures!

Gruene

My mom's side of the family got away last weekend for a quick stay at a river house in Gruene.  Palmer had a blast, despite the time change putting a damper on his schedule.
Fascinated with planes and the takeoff:
If it fits, it ships (oh wait, I think that's the slogan for the USPS not Southwest Airlines).
Checking out the river:
Palmer loves his ladies, Gram, Aunt Samantha, Holly (and of course, mommy):
But, the boys might be more fun because they do cool things like fishing and deer spotting:
